Furthermore, the Tricity region is traversed by the R10 bike trail (EuroVelo 10), which is part of an international route encircling the Baltic Sea with a total length of 8,000 km. So, while in Gdynia, you can enjoy cycling on urban bike paths and embark on longer journeys, such as a trip to Hel along the R10 trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When you visit Gdynia, you don’t necessarily need to bring your own bike. Traditional and electric city bikes are available for residents and tourists. However, if you plan to explore the nearby nature reserves and cover dozens of kilometers each day, it’s a good idea to bring your own bike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Undoubtedly, the most charming bike routes lead close to the beach and through the forest. What’s more, a portion of Gdynia’s territory belongs to the Tricity Landscape Park, spanning a total area of 20,000 hectares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Within the Tricity Landscape Park, you’ll find the Pe\u0142cznica Nature Reserve. This protected area, part of the Natura 2000 program, encompasses the Pa\u0142sznik, Wygoda, and Krypko lakes. The reserve features beech and oak-beech forest communities. To reach the reserve, head towards the village of Zbychowo. Initially, you’ll need to travel on provincial roads or bike paths. Zbychowo is located within a forested area, making the bike route much more enjoyable. The distance from Gdynia to the reserve is approximately 25 km. On the way back, you can head towards Lake Zawiad. The route is similar in length, and the scenery is equally picturesque. If you want to take a detour, stop by the “Marszewo” Forest Botanical Garden in Gdynia. You’ll find enchanting nature trails, a playground, and a place for a bonfire there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other slightly closer routes within the Tricity Landscape Park include the Kacze \u0141\u0119gi Nature Reserve (about 7 km from Gdynia city center) and the \u0141\u0119g nad Swelini\u0105 Nature Reserve (about 10 km from Gdynia city center).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We often receive inquiries about the bike route from Gdynia to Sopot. In a straight line, following Aleja Zwyci\u0119stwa, the route to Sopot is approximately 12 km. However, we recommend stopping by the Zaj\u0119cze Wzg\u00f3rze Nature Reserve along the way. Established in 1983, the reserve covers a portion of the forest on the slopes of a moraine plateau. Here, centuries-old trees (around 200 years old) in the lowland beech forest community are protected. The reserve spans slightly over 11 hectares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You can also reach Sopot via Aleja Witolda Kukowskiego, which runs along the Tricity beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A highly popular route is the path between Gdynia and Gda\u0144sk, which is nearly 30 km long and part of the aforementioned R10 bike trail. You can start your journey at Skwer Ko\u015bciuszki and head towards Kolibki Park and Or\u0142owo, then Sopot, and finally, maintain the direction to Gda\u0144sk. In Gda\u0144sk, you can visit the European Solidarity Centre and the Amber Museum. This option is suitable for more experienced cyclists, as it requires some strength to cover the entire route, although you’ll encounter beautiful landscapes along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you’ve embarked on a family vacation to Gdynia and are looking for routes suitable for children, you won’t be disappointed. Near the city center, you’ll find the easily navigable Oksywie Loop. Along this route, you can see the city’s oldest church, St. Michael the Archangel’s Church. You’ll also pass by the Fishermen’s Village with fishing boats and a harbor. The total length of the loop is just over 6 km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A bit further away is the very easy Chwarzno-Wiczlino loop, which can be reached by car from the city center. The length of this loop is approximately 5 km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Exploring Gdynia and the beautiful Tricity Landscape Park actively on a bike is an exciting alternative to a car trip. Especially considering that the Tricity area offers a variety of bike routes and paths where even children can feel safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
