Every year in Gdynia, several or even a dozen running events are held. What does their schedule look like in 2024? And until when can you register?

Gdynia has created its own running formula: The Gdynia Grand Prix in street running. This includes running events such as the Gdynia Birthday Run, the Świętojański Night Run, and the Gdynia Independence Run. But these are not the only running events in the city. More popular ones include: the Grand Prix in mountain running, Gdynia Half Marathon, ULTRA WAY Running Festival, Enea IRONMAN Gdynia. When will these events take place? And another important question, where to stay when coming to Gdynia for running competitions?

Gdynia Birthday Run – February 11, 2024

We start the year with a run with a very long tradition, in which everyone can participate. On February 11, the 98th anniversary of the city’s founding, the Gdynia Birthday Run 2024 will begin. It will also inaugurate the Gdynia Grand Prix in Street Running. As part of the competitions, children, youth, and Nordic Walking enthusiasts will start. Participation in the run is associated with a registration fee dependent on the package and age. Registration for the event takes place through the website, and entries end on January 31, although registration is also possible on the day of the competition. The course of the run is 10 km and leads through the streets of Gdynia with the finish line on Olimpijska Street. Nordic walking participants will also cover the same route. Children can also participate in the competitions.
New in 2024 will be a companion run of 1926 meters. This year, Gdynia obtained city rights. Participants will have 30 minutes to complete this distance.
Financial prizes are foreseen in the competitions.

X Grand Prix in Mountain Running 2024

The 10th edition of the Grand Prix in mountain running, which in itself attracts many enthusiasts of trail running, will take place in 2024. The courses, of lengths 5.5 km and 11 km, lead through picturesque forest terrain and abound in ascents and descents. Importantly, both the start and finish are located in one place.
To better prepare for the challenge, the organizers encourage you to watch a video presenting the course of the run, which gives participants an insight into what to expect during the competitions. In 2024, the runs will take place: March 9, April 13, May 11, June 15.

After a longer break, the Gdynia Half Marathon running competitions are returning – they will take place on May 18.
In its heyday, the event attracted about 7,000 participants. Unfortunately, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of the competition, which was to be attended by almost 30,000 people. In addition to the standard distance, Gdynia Half Marathon also offers a 5 km run and a three-person relay. Nordic walking fans can also participate in the competitions. Additionally, the novelty is that the run will take place in the evening, with the start planned for 8 PM. Runners are to start from Skwer Kościuszki, and the finish is planned in the vicinity of ORP Błyskawica and Dar Pomorza.

Świętojański Night Run – June 21, 2024

The Świętojański Night Run, part of the Gdynia Grand Prix, will take place this year on June 21, 2024. At this stage, there is a lack of more detailed information about this event. If the route is similar to last year’s, the run participants will run from Kazimierz Górski Street, at the height of the National Rugby Stadium, and further through several city streets, including Świętojańska, Jana Kilińskiego, and Władysława IV, to return to Kazimierz Górski Street, where the finish line is located.
